Being an Open Water Scuba Instructor is more than a job; it’s a lifestyle. If you have a passion for teaching and the underwater world, then being a dive instructor may be the perfect job for you. The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor (OWSDI) course is designed to teach current Divemasters or Assistant Instructors, certified with a recognized dive training organization, the knowledge to effectively function as an open water scuba diver instructor.

At Technical Diving Services, we make it easy by putting everything in one package so that all you need to do is study, practice, and prepare for your Instructor Examination. Your package will include all materials for Open Water, Computer Nitrox, and First Response Instructor, as well as instructor registration fees and instructor evaluation. The Open Water Instructor program is divided into two sections, an instructor development course (IDC) and an instructor evaluation course (IEC). The IDC consists of 7 consecutive days and the IEC 2 days. You will have 1 day off in between the IDC and IEC to prepare for your evaluation. After successful completion of your Instructor Evaluation, the Computer Nitrox and First Response Instructor courses require an additional 2 days.

Costs: $2795 for 1 candidate, $2650 for 2-3 candidates

Prerequisites: Minimum age 18, Certified diver for a minimum of 6 months. Provide proof of 100 logged dives completed in several different environments with varying depths. Be certified as a SDI Divemaster, SDI Assistant Instructor, or equivalent, Provide proof of current CPR, first aid and oxygen provider.
